Dental Implants
Nowadays you don’t have to put up with missing teeth, which ruin the aesthetic nature of your smile and make day-to-day function like eating certain foods difficult. Dental implants are a safe, comfortable and very effective replacement for missing teeth. They look and feel like your natural teeth, and can last in excess of 20 years.
They’re a great alternative to dentures, as the implant will effectively be like your own teeth.
If you want to get dental implants, talk to one of our dentists about the process and what to expect. All your preliminary work will be done in our Cremorne dental surgery, where we can take 3D X-rays and answer many of your questions about the procedure.
Dental implants do require surgery. During the procedure, an implant is surgically inserted into your jawbone, which will be the anchor for a replacement tooth. Over time the jawbone will attach itself to the implant, enabling replacement teeth to be permanently fastened into place.
Crowns, a bridge, or stabilised denture may then be attached to the implant. Since these must be carefully constructed to match the opposing tooth and ensure a correct bite, several impressions of the teeth are taken and sent to a lab which will construct the prosthetics.
