Children’s teeth play a very important role in their lives.
Caring for your children’s teeth from an early age is of the utmost importance. Baby teeth or primary teeth help children to speak clearly and chew, they also pave the way for secondary teeth. Children’s teeth need to be looked after gently and carefully. By following a simple dental routine, you can help give your children healthy teeth and gums.
When the day comes to meet our Dentists, we recommend that you make it an exciting event for your child. They will get to have a ride in the dental chair and find out more about their teeth. We will count their teeth with them and take a photo of their mouth with the digital camera. Why not bring along their favourite toy to make them feel more comfortable. It is very important not to wait until your child experiences tooth ache to visit us. By having routine check-ups at Progressive Dental from an early age, it can help to eliminate the fear of the Dentist and establish a good dental routine that they can follow throughout their lives.
Our team love children! We will make your child feel right at home and help them to understand the importance of caring for their teeth.
As a family practice we love having lots of kids visit our surgery. It’s fun, they know that life’s not that serious, and it’s great to have that kind of energy in the practice. We assess what work they need done and how tolerant they are to dental work, because the aim of the exercise is to NEVER traumatise them. We incorporate patient education into the appointment in a fun and interactive way to provide your child with the information and encouragement needed to maintain a healthy mouth for life. Our primary objective is prevention and we know that good habits last if they are started early.
Many of our paediatric patients are seeing us for orthodontic work, which is almost all non-invasive. But if a child sees us needing a lot of work, or for very anxious children, we will refer their case on to a specialist paediatric dentist.
